Special measures and video-link

Special measures exist to facilitate the process of giving evidence and are granted by the court when it is agreed that using them will improve the quality of evidence that the witness is likely to give.

Permission is sought at the pre-trial review by prosecution or defence counsels.

The court considers the views of the witness.

Special measures can mean giving evidence behind a screen or on a televised live-link from within the court building

There are other measures that may be granted
