Help and Information

Defence Witnesses

You will be asked to come to court by the defendant’s counsel to give evidence about something you witnessed or have information about.

If staffing permits, a Witness Service volunteer will offer to accompany you into the courtroom.

You will be questioned by the defence counsel about what you know. Then the prosecution counsel will ask you questions and they will test your evidence against the prosecution version of events.

The Witness Service offers you the chance to come to court before the trial for a pre-trial visit.

Contact the Witness Service if you are worried about giving evidence and we will help by answering your questions.

If you are in immediate danger call the police on 999
