SAFETY TIPS
Be safe when out and about
- Look confident
- Be alert
- Avoid confrontation
- Hold your head high
- Know where you are going and how you're going to get there
- Avoid danger spots, such as badly lit areas, subways, car parks, deserted buildings, waste ground or alleyways
- Follow your instincts if you feel uncomfortable in a situation, get yourself out of it IMMEDIATELY
- Call out for help - shout FIRE
- Ask for help at a nearby house or shop
- Keep anything of value out of sight i.e. purses, mobile phones, jewellery
- Don't leave valuables on view in locked cars put them in the boot or hide them
- Try not to walk along talking on your mobile phone
- Don't put yourself in danger for the sake of a few minutes short cuts can be dangerous
- Keep valuables in different places keep cheque books away from cheque cards and try not to keep money in one place
- Make sure you know the number of a reputable local taxi company
- Walk confidently and at a good pace
