Neighbour Disputes
My life was hell. I couldn't go out at all at night. I could see them out there waiting for me. They accused me of stealing their son's bike I saw them hide that away. The non-stop music at all hours meant that I could never sleep. I don't know what I've done to deserve this, I've lived in this house all my life and I've never had so many problems. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. It's taken over my whole life Neighbour disputes can take many forms. Some people may have been subject to criminal damage, abuse, noise nuisance, threats or physical attacks many times as part of the dispute. Neighbour disputes affect people in a wide range of different ways. Children in particular can be very frightened. If you have children who have been affected by a dispute with your neighbours click here for our R U OK? section. However you are feeling, and whenever the incidents took place, you can always talk to someone from Victim Support Croydon, free of charge and in complete confidence. We can help you regardless of whether or not you have told the Police or anyone else. Most victims want to talk about what has happened to them and how they're feeling. Friends and family can help, but it can also be helpful to talk to someone who isn't directly involved. Our specially trained workers will listen and understand. We can also offer useful information to deal with some of the problems the crime has caused. Sometimes we can arrange practical help too. Croydon has a mediation service, Croydon Community Mediation, which can help to resolve these types of disputes. They can be contacted on 020 8255 2464. |
